A number of years ago the State of Minnesota passed legislation requiring real estate agents to clarify their representation status when dealing with buyers and sellers. The above informational form does exactly that, and you will be asked to read over the appropriate sections, then sign and date to acknowledge receipt of the information. Especially helpful is the list of fiduciary responsibilities that are owed to you by your agent, if your are that person’s client as opposed to his or her customer. To become a client, you will need to agree in writing to the terms of a representation contract (can be viewed in the DOCUMENTS tab on my web site), otherwise your status will be that of a customer.
