Minnesota Opera Winner!!

opera copy (Mobile)Minnesota Opera has done it again! John Patrick Shanley’s  play, DOUBT, is a brilliant, thought provoking work exploring a possible abusive relationship between a priest and a minority child in a Catholic church and school in the Bronx, NY in the mid-60’s. The opera of the same name, commissioned by Minnesota Opera, with music by Douglas Cuomo, explores the tense journey to get at the truth of the matter and the final resolution of the problem – but has anything really changed?  There are doubts…  All the elements come together in this totally absorbing production, and it doesn’t hurt that Denyce Graves
and Christine Brewer head the cast of singers.  There are only two performances remaining, but, thankfully, the opera was filmed for future showings on PBS – either way, not to be missed!
