St. Louis Park has advised residents of a voluntary parking program designed to permit emergency vehicles clear passage through narrowed residential streets. These “voluntary restrictions” are in addition to the mandatory 3” snowfall parking rule in effect in St. Louis Park, and include asking residents to park on the odd numbered side of the street until further notice. On streets where parking is regulated by posted signs, those rules should be followed. The problem prompting the “voluntary” program is that plows cannot properly widen streets without creating sidewalk problems, and in many cases the snow is so hard packed that the plows can’t move it at all. St. Louis Park last restricted parking to one side of the street in 1997, and, although it was not citywide, the rule was mandatory. You may contact St. Louis Park for more details.
